Harvey Elliott: ‘Liverpool open to offers’ – ‘huge’ asking price revealed

Liverpool

Liverpool will not stand in the way of letting Harvey Elliott leave the club this summer if a club is willing to meet their asking price.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 21-year-old’s future at Anfield remains up in the air.

However, their current “huge” asking price is set to deter any interest parties from making moves to sign him and they may instead listen to lower offers.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 4 April that Liverpool will demand £50million to sell Elliott this summer amid interest from a number of European clubs.

The Reds still see the midfielder as part of their long-term plans, but are believed to be willing to let him go if they can bring in a significant fee for his services.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Elliot has been disappointed by his lack of opportunities since Slot took over last summer.

Harvey Elliott to leave Liverpool after £50million claim

Brown previously told Football Insider that Elliott is unhappy with his current Liverpool role and is keen to play regular first-team football elsewhere.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Liverpool could be forced to reduce their asking price.

Elliott is a player who I have a lot of time for,” he told Football Insider.

“But there aren’t many, if any, clubs out there who will be willing to pay £50million for him.

“I think he’s a player who a lot of teams would love to have, he’s probably a better player than he gets credit for, and Liverpool rate him highly.

“If Liverpool are planning to make some money from his sale, they’ll have to drop that price.

“I think they’ve put that huge £50million label on him as a starting point, but it could come down.

“Ultimately, they’ll be open to seeing what offers they get and how much clubs are willing to pay.

“Particularly if he wants to make the move, they might decide they’d be in a better position if they could bring in a significant fee and reinvest it elsewhere.

“Because like I say, there is interest in him, but they’re not going to pay £50million.”

Ben Doak update emerges amid Everton transfer plan

Elliott is not the only young player who could leave Anfield in search of more regular first-team opportunities in the summer transfer window.

Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are prepared to sell Ben Doak amid interest from the likes of Everton, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

The 19-year-old is unlikely to break into Slot’s first-team squad and will instead be allowed to leave if an acceptable offer arrives.

Football Insider revealed on 4 April that Liverpool will demand £30million to sell Doak this summer after rejecting a £15million bid from Crystal Palace in January.
