New Trade Proposals for Elias Pettersson Emerge Just Days After Season’s End

Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson

If the Vancouver Canucks decide they want to trade Elias Pettersson this summer, there certainly won’t be a shortage of teams that’ll be interested in the Swedish forward.

The offseason is officially upon us for the Vancouver Canucks and there’s going to be some big decisions made in the coming months by General Manager Patrik Allvin.
Among the many things Allvin will need to consider this summer is the future of Elias Pettersson, who was mentioned in trade rumors for the majority of the season before the team ultimately dealt J.T. Miller in late January.

Trade destinations emerge for Vancouver Canucks’ Elias Pettersson

Despite his poor season offensively, there’s still plenty of hope that Elias Pettersson can turn things around starting this fall and he’ll need to do that in a big way, as in returning to a 100+ point player, in order to justify his $11.6 million cap hit.
The Sundsvall, Sweden native finished the year with 45 points in 64 games, with 22% of his points coming in the month of March where he started looking like the player he has the potential to be, before suffering an injury ended his season.
Whether or not that’s with Vancouver remains to be seen, but in a recent article on Daily Hive, Trevor Beggs took a look at some potential landing spots for Elias Pettersson if Patrik Allvin were to move on from him at some point this summer.
Among the teams mentioned by Beggs are the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes, who were linked to Pettersson leading up to the National Hockey League’s trade deadline back on March 7th.
Along with the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes, Beggs mentions the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders as potential fits and quite frankly, all four of those teams would work given their need for an offensive boost in their top-six.
However, while teams may call Patrik Allvin to inquire about Elias Pettersson this summer, there isn’t a guarantee that they’ll trade him as the Vancouver Canucks believe in the 26-year-old and proof of that belief was giving him a massive contract extension for eight years worth a total of $92.8 million USD.
If someone rings Patrik Allvin with an offer he can’t refuse, then there’s no doubt he’ll consider it, but as things stand now, it’s more likely than not that Elias Pettersson will be on Vancouver’s opening night roster for the 2025-26 season.
