When the Minnesota Vikings were in the thick of the rumors that involved them and Aaron Rodgers earlier this offseason, some wondered how much it might cost for the All-Pro quarterback to end up in purple and gold.

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday, Rodgers revealed the amount of money he would be willing to play for next season, and his answer might shock a few people.

“It ain’t about the money. I never once said I need a multi-year deal. $30, $40 million is bulls**t. I said I’d play for $10 [million].”

Back when free agency first got underway in March, it was reported that the Vikings made a contract offer to quarterback Daniel Jones that was similar to the one that he eventually signed with the Indianapolis Colts.

With Jones set to make $14 million with the Colts next season, it’s possible that he could end up making more money than Rodgers in 2025 if the former Jets quarterback decides to continue playing.

In terms of value, even Minnesota fans can’t deny that signing Rodgers might be worth the risk if he’s only going to cost $10 million. However, when it comes to the former Packers quarterback, it’s about a whole lot more than his potential price tag.

Not only would the Vikings be adding someone to their locker room who has been at the center of drama and controversy during the last few years, but they would also be pressing the pause button on J.J. McCarthy’s development.

Regardless of how inexpensive it would be to sign Rodgers, McCarthy needs to be the priority for Minnesota this year, and luckily, based on all of their actions this offseason, that seems to be the team’s exact thinking as well.
