Abdul Carter is officially a New York Giant, which also means he’s no longer a fan of the team he grew up cheering for: the Philadelphia Eagles.

Carter had no problem shedding that skin when he gave his initial interview moments after he was taken with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Yea I’m all New York,” Carter told ESPN on the center stage. “New York is going to get everything from me – all the passion that I have [and] all the love that I have. All the excitement on third down, it’s going to get loud… I’m going to bring out my best pass rush move and make that big, explosive play.”

“Philly’s going to have to get left behind. I’m all New York. Go Big Blue,” Carter told reporters in his post-draft press conference.

Carter immediately upgrades the Giants’ pass rush and gives defensive coordinator Shane Bowen arguably the NFL’s scariest pass rush quartet in Carter, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Dexter Lawrence. If Joe Schoen takes advantage of the deep position group that is the defensive line class, then the Giants’ front seven could easily rank among the top-5. And if it lives up to its potential, it could easily become the NFL’s best front seven.

But most importantly, Carter can help the Giants take a step toward chasing down the Eagles, both literally and figuratively. There’s obviously still a ton of work to do, but so far, Schoen and Co. are on the right path to doing just that.
