Former Packers QB Announces Horrific Personal News

Former Packers QB Announces Tragic Personal News | Yardbarker

The Green Bay Packers are in the midst of an historic off-season.  Of course, the two signings in OL Aaron Banks and CB Nate Hobbs were huge signings.  Additionally, having the 2025 NFL Draft is historic in its own right.

However, there is a former Packers quarterback who is currently going through some hard times.

An announcement was made on Monday night that former NFL tight end Don Hasselbeck had passed away after going into cardiac arrest. His son Matt Hasselbeck confirmed this news on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt message:

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our father, Don Hasselbeck, who suffered cardiac arrest and passed away today. We want to thank our parents’ neighbors and all the medical professionals who came to his aid,” the former NFL quarterback wrote on Instagram.

“He was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend, coach, player, coworker, artist, mentor, and storyteller. Despite being an All-American at Colorado and a Super Bowl Champion with the Raiders, what we are most proud of is the leader he was for our family.“

He helped set our feet on solid ground. Married to and in love with our mom, Betsy, for 50 years, they built their house on the rock of Jesus Christ. Our dad’s prayer journals, in his meticulous handwriting and in a rainbow of pen colors, hold each of our names and needs. Many of you who have known our father, have been thoughtfully prayed for in the pages of his journals.

There is a 6’ 7” hole in our hearts. He will be so missed by so many. We are beyond grateful that he was our dad and look forward to Heaven and being all together again.”

Shortly after the Super Bowl champion’s death was announced, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the wife of former New York Giants quarterback Tim Hasselbeck, shared a Bible verse in honor of her father-in-law.

“Jeremiah 17:7 But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him,” Elisabeth wrote on her Instagram Story.A few hours later, Elisabeth posted another message about putting “hope in God” on her Instagram Story.

Don Hasselbeck played for the Patriots, Raiders, Vikings and Giants before retiring. He finished his NFL career with 107 catches for 1,542 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Our thoughts are with the Hasselbeck family at this time.
