The St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets clashed for Game 2 of their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series on Monday night and in the case of Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele and St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington that was literally the case.

Both teams were given a bit of a scare during the game’s second period when Scheifele went slamming into Binnington’s net, creating a scene in the crease and net that looked more like a car wreck than a hockey game.

It was Blues defenseman Cam Fowler who was largely responsible for this incident, with Fowler bumping Scheifele as he tried to cut in towards the net, sending Schiefele sprawling to the ice and leaving him unable to halt his forward momentum. That would carry him straight into the legs of Binnington, but thankfully it looked as though Binnington was able to brace himself before Scheifele came flying in.

Although things did not look good for either Schiefele or Binnington after the initial collision, thankfully both men were able to walk away from this one relatively unscathed. Binnington hopped right back up to his skates after untangling himself from Schiefele and seemed to have taken no damage at all, and Schiefele was able to get back to his feet under his own power as well.
