Mitch Marner has struggled in the playoffs throughout his NHL career, however, it seems as though he has finally reached his peak powers.
With the Maple Leafs up 3-0 on the Ottawa Senators, Marner has been able to manage a total of six points, including one goal and five assists.
He has been sensational so far and there is no doubt that the team is very lucky to have him as this team tries to navigate the most important playoffs in franchise history.
Last night, Marner helped out on the game-winner from Simon Benoit and it was really nice to see that kind of connection play out in a crucial moment.
Meanwhile, after the game, Mitch had an amazing response when asked about what the team is feeling right now. In fact, his answer showcases that he has learned a lot from past playoff failures.
“You can’t be satisfied with where you’re at now. The next one is gonna be the hardest and we gotta be ready for that.”
If the Maple Leafs do finish off this series on Saturday, they will have to play either the Florida Panthers or the Tampa Bay Lightning which is a very scary proposition.
The Panthers are up 2-0 in that series and the Panthers are a team that the Leafs struggled against at times during the regular season.
With that in mind, things are only going to get more difficult from here on out. If the Leafs can just knock off Ottawa, they give themselves a chance to achieve anything.
Only time will tell whether or not this Maple Leafs team has what it takes to defeat some of the league’s best and most well-rounded teams.
