Days after Game 4 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators, the NHL has decided to make a change that benefits captain Auston Matthews.
The Toronto Maple Leafs lost 4-3 in overtime in Game 4 against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night and it was a game that the Leafs would like back.
One of the best goals of the entire game was scored by Matthew Knies who was able to roof the puck on Linus Ullmark on a beautiful breakaway.
Originally, the goal was credited with an assist from Mitch Marner, and no one else. Days later, the NHL has decided to amend that.
Auston Matthews credited with an Assist
Previously, Auston Matthews had finished Game 4 without registering a single point. However, that has officially changed.
According to NHL Public Relations, a scoring change to Saturday night’s game now credits the captain with a secondary assist.

Ultimately, this changes absolutely nothing for Auston Matthews and the rest of the Toronto Maple Leafs. They lost Game 4 and now, they must win Game 5.
If they do win on Tuesday at home, they will catapult themselves into the second round which is going to be a lot of fun for this team.
They will either play the Tampa Bay Lightning or the Florida Panthers. When you think about how the season went, it is clear that Tampa is the better option.
Only time will tell what happens next and whether or not the Leafs finally exercise those pesky playoff demons of years past.
