The Toronto Maple Leafs have decided to keep things the way they are as they head into Game 4 against the Senators as the team looks to clinch the series sweep.
Saturday night’s game between the Leafs and Senators is going to be one that is not only filled with tension and animosity, but with a lot of pride on the line as Ottawa looks to avoid a very swift exit from the postseason and try to spare themselves the embarrassment of being swept.
Toronto will put Anthony Stolarz between the pipes, a surefire sign that the team isn’t looking to let up on the Sens anytime soon, and with how their lineup is looking, it seems that Craig Berube isn’t going to change what’s been successful.
The team is going to ensure they get themselves a series sweep, and if the Core Four can keep the pace they’ve been on, it’s all but assured.
Toronto’s Lineup Perfectly Set Up For A Sweep
The quartet of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and William Nylander have combined for 19 points (5G, 14A) and have shown out in every single game; it’s a refreshing change for once given how much criticism the group normally gets for their production.
There really is no reason to change things up, and with the insertion of Max Pacioretty into the lineup in Game 3, adding some more physicality and a bigger presence on the ice, it’s gone better than expected.
Sure, we thought Toronto would certainly get the series win, but no one really could have anticipated a potential sweep.
With Florida potentially entering a sweep of their own against Tampa Bay, it could be a second round that involves two teams coming in with a huge wave of momentum, so it’s crucial that Toronto wins this game and crosses their fingers that Tampa can extend the series to five or six games.
The team is in good hands, and Berube hasn’t shown any panic or feels the need to make any drastic changes. He adapts as he needs to and it works out.
But if the team doesn’t come out like they have in previous games, you can certainly expect Berube to make a change or two going forward, but let’s just hope they can seal the deal tonight so he doesn’t have to worry too much about things.
